SAMSUNG'S NEW STORE
Content providers for videos, music, games and apps need not necessarily be only Apple and Google. Amazon has tried its hand at an app store and now Samsung wants to follow. Samsung already has few offerings like the Music Hub and App Store, but all content is not available globally or pooled centrally in a portal. That is now being worked on.

Zombies Run motivates you to start running and keep running. The app leads athletes to believe that they're being chased by zombies. The only way to avoid them is to take to your heels and collect as many virtual objects as you can. The virtual objects are hidden somewhere along the jogging route. The app is still incomplete, though. The developer wants to develop 30 missions, only half of which have been completed so far. The app also records the route traversed, the time and the speed.

The free iLiga app is a must for popular tournaments such as the German national league, the DFB cup or the Champions League. It covers the European Championships too. The editable live-ticker always contains a compact summary of the highlights, breakdowns and lists of players, along with photos, background information and updates overviews of the groups and tables. The package is complemented by news items that relate to the selected competition.

The iPad version of the Khan Academy brings over 3,000 videos dealing with mathematics, physics, history or economics to the tablet. Most of the English videos have subtitles. You can even take tests and put your knowledge under the microscope.

If you want to use your iPad to do serious work, you will need ability to process PDF files and Notability is more than up to task. If used in conjunction with the Retina support in the iPad 3, it can be a real head-turner. Intricate tasks require the use of a stylus, but you can use your fingers to take down notes. You can use the wide variety of tools, such as underlining, markings and bullet points, to structure your notes.

Apple uses the iPhoto OSX programme to complement the pre-installed photo apps on iPads and iPhones. iPhoto, which is officially compatible with the iPad 2, iPhone 4 and subsequent models, bring together image administration, processing and presentation in a single package. The app's handling is simply perfect on the iPad. You can use the gestures to browse trough your photo collection, and multi-touch enables you to make use of the pre-installed tools and effects.

This app, created by the Microsoft Research, is dedicated to assembling faces. All you have to do is take a picture of two people and ahake your smartphonw. The app then swaps the faces of the two individuals. You can then post the modified images on Facebook or Twitter.
