CO-OP PLAY IN NEXT ASSASSIN'S CREED?

After the recent release of one of its biggest games, Assassin's Creed III, it appears Ubisoft is considering new ideas for the next title in the series. The company has sent out a new survey that shows the potential path the next game's development could follow. The survey covers a wide array of topics, but what caught our eye was one question that could lead to an all new mode in the next game - co-operative play. It asks if gamers would like the "possibility for a friend to join the game in order to help."
Other questions in the survey cover the release of Assassin's Creed III, general satisfaction with gameplay, combat, sequences, and story arc, while probing for the next potential protogonist for future games. The survey also asks questions about general interest in Connor coming back another game, another game with Desmond, and revisit to the Frontier.

X-BOX NEXT GEN IN LATE 2013?

The next Xbox, rumoured to be called Xbox 720 and referred to as 'Durango' in the development circles, is rumoured to be out for the holiday season in 2013. Developers have already gotten their hands on devkits for the 'Durango' which is further fuelling rumours. This could force Sony to unveil the next PlayStation, as again, developers have gotten their hands on devkits. Looking at the game release schedule, and how there aren't many big titles going to be released after May, this could point towards next-gen consoles from both Sony and Microsoft being closer than we think.
In early November, it was released that Sony shipped the newest version of the Playstation 4 devkit to developers. Developers have been getting new versions of the Orbis kit. Sony has been using the term Orbis when referring to the machine. There has been no official record of the company calling it PlayStation 4.

DISHONORED WILL GET SEQUEL SAYS BETHESDA

Earlier this year, Bethesda released a rare triple-A stealth game titled Dishonored, which was received very positively by critics and gamers alike. It's been barely two months since its launch, but it looks like we can expect a sequel to the game. Bethesda has told Destructoid that the critically-acclaimed game is performing better than expected the developers are keeping mum on the actual figures, but have confirmed that it will be getting a sequel.
"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations," said PR Chief Pete Hines. "We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stories and on steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we're very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."

APPLE MAC OS X ON WINDOWS PC

PREPARE:

You require a legal copy of Apple's OSX as an ISO file for this workshop. The PearPC emulator supports OSX versions 10.2(Jaguar), 10.3(Panther) and 10.4(Tiger). First, create a new directory "C:\PPC" and decompress PearPC there. Create a subdirectory "image" in the "PPC" folder. Unpack a blank virtual hard disk - the PearPC image file ( ). This is compresses in the "bz,2" archive format. If unpacking fails, install IZArc ( ) and decompress the image with this tool into the folder "PPC\image". In "pearpc.img", you can change the file name of the packed image file. Lastly, copy the Mac OSX ISO file in the image folder.

CONFIGURE EMULATOR:

Now install the PearPC tool Vbox GUI. Click "New", enter a name, in the wizard and select the operating system to be emulated here. Enter the path to file "pearpc.img" under "Primary master HD image". Give the file path for the ISO file of the Mac OSX in the "IDE slot" field. Exit the wizard with "Finish" and switch the display resolution to "1024x768x32" under "Video". Click "Next" and change the entry to "select" under "Boot -> Boot method". If you have a PC with at least 2 GB of RAM, increase the main memory to 1 GB under "System".

INSTALLING MAC OS:

Click "Start" to activate the emulator. The tool shows a bootable partition marked with "cdrom0", which you select with the [1] button. Subsequently, the installation of Mac OSX starts. It runs automatically to a large extent and lasts for approximately 40 minutes on a computer with multi-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM. At the end of the installation, PearPC shuts down the Apple operating system automatically. Remove the entry for the set-up DVD using "IDE".

CREATE SHORTCUT:

Click "Create desktop shortcut" by clicking the main window of VBox GUI to start Mac OSX easily in the future. From now on, you can start your new Apple PC using the shortcut. The operating system requests all sorts of data and a compulsory registration. The registration is used to avoid the installation of the OS copy on several Macs or PCs. Once the system is installed, you can start programs lik iChat, Safari and the QuickTime player using the task bar. Otherwise, open "System settings" and configure the system by yourself.

DO YOU DOUBT THAT YOUR NETWORK IS BEING USED BY OTHERS?

Many times, you may need an overview of all the computers currently active in the local wired or wireless network. This is possible from the Windows control panel but it takes a bit of time. However, this overview will not show other devices such as smartphones and tablets using your Wi-Fi network. It is possible to gain a quicker and more complete view through the freeware tool Wireless Net view by NirSoft(http://www.nirsoft.net/ ). The program doesn't need to be installed and you can simply start using it right away by extracting the ZIP archive and running the file 'WNetWatcher.exe'. After a few seconds, you will get a complete list of the active IP addresses with the relevant device names, MAC address and additional information. Use the command 'Options -> Background Scan' for monitoring the network. You can also activate 'Options -> Beep On New Device'. This enables an aural alert as soon as a new device is detected on your network.
Note that if you already using a set of NirSoft tools either separately or in windows, then you need not download this again. Just find the tool in the collection.

UBUNTU ON MOBILE PHONES

Designed to make all your phone content easier to access and your apps more immersive – every edge has a specific purpose, making all your apps, content and controls instantly accessible, without navigating back to the home screen every time. And the Ubuntu phone fits perfectly into the wider family of Ubuntu interfaces, alongside the PC and TV. It's a uniquely, beautifully converged experience.

Ubuntu uses simple natural swiping gestures from the edges of the screen to make it easier than ever to access your content and switch between apps. Every edge of the phone is used, letting you move faster between apps, settings and content.

A short swipe from the left edge of the screen is all it takes to reveal your favourite apps. There’s room for everything you use daily, available instantly from the welcome screen or any application. Ubuntu lets you switch faster between running and favourite apps than any other phone.

Page either left or right from the home screen to see the content you use most. A full left-to-right swipe reveals a screen showing all your open apps, while a swipe from the right brings you instantly to the last app you were using. Switching between running applications has never been quicker or easier.

A swipe from the right edge takes you back to the last app you were using; another swipe takes you back to the app you used before that. It’s natural to keep many apps open at once, which is why Ubuntu was designed for multi-tasking. No other smartphone lets you switch between applications this quickly.
Swiping up from the bottom edge of the phone reveals app controls. You can hide or reveal them instantly, which means they don’t take up room on the screen, leaving you free to focus on the stuff  that matters. Immerse yourself in your photos, web pages, music, messages and apps.

Web applications sit alongside native apps on Ubuntu. They get their own icons and the same access to system notifications. So apps like Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, Gmail and Spotify are all available – and thanks to Ubuntu’s web app APIs, it’s easy for web developers to install their  sites as full applications.
But Ubuntu isn’t limited to HTML5. Native apps are blazingly fast, taking advantage of the full capabilities of the phone’s processor and graphics hardware. And a mobile SDK does most of the work to give you that gorgeous, distinctive Ubuntu look and feel.

Run local Ubuntu apps and remote Windows apps on a secure docked phone – the new thin client of choice. Your Ubuntu phone can be managed with standard enterprise Ubuntu management tools that also handle servers, cloud infrastructure and desktops. Secure your infrastructure using Ubuntu’s browser and email client, delivering your legacy Office apps from your data centre.

Just tell your phone what you’re looking for and watch the results come in. If it’s a person, you’ll see data from your email and phone contacts alongside Facebook friends and followers on Twitter. Looking for music? Ubuntu doesn’t just search your phone. It also searches online retailers including Amazon and the Ubuntu One Music Store, putting the whole world of music at your fingertips, alongside your personal collection.

Ubuntu reinvents the inbox, giving you quicker access to all your emails, texts, calls and social media posts. See every message as it comes in and reply in an instant; just swipe down from the top when a new one arrives and respond directly to Facebook, Twitter, email, SMS and good old-fashioned telephone calls.
Bring the world to your fingertips, and organise it all beautifully. Swipe from the home screen to filter your searches to apps, people, music and so on. Swipe from the top to see your incoming messages. Everything is stylish, elegant and crisp.

The Gallery makes it easier than ever to organise, find and share your photos. Every shot is instantly uploaded to your Ubuntu One personal cloud account, making it available on all your devices – including those running iOS, Android and Windows.

Ubuntu includes native applications covering all the essentials you expect in a phone: telephony and voicemail, SMS and MMS, email, web browsing, photography, music and video.
Your phone will find it, let Ubuntu do the work.
